Fisherman’s night
is a collage of crazy and entertaining competitions like rope climbing to reach
a pršut (smoked ham), tug-o-war, rowing blindfolded, waiter’s race, etc.
and all this spiced up with the wonderful scents of baked fish and homemade
red wine.
Festival of St. Rock
a mix of church and folk ceremonies whose roots lie in long ago 1623 when the
veneration of the saint began, who according to legend protected Sutivan from
the plague.

In the season Sutivan abounds with interesting, entertaining and varied events which successfully combine traditional customs, modern trends, sport, art and culture, and all this is spiced up with people always ready for fun and the preserved atmosphere of this authentic Mediterranean island locality.
The most attractive and internationally recognised event is without a doubt the sports festival Vanka Regule which has for years attracted great media attention and an increasing number of participants and observers. The week of this festival is definitely the craziest week which you can experience in Sutivan, with all day events and competitions, all night entertainment and partying .

The Island of Brač
as a whole offers a great number of interesting events in nearly all its localities. Each locality marks the date of their holy protectors with great folk and church festivities, while in municipal centres cultural programmes and sports events are organised. Overall the Island of Brač offers a richer cultural-entertainment programme than the largest of Croatian cities in the summer season. Jazz, rock, pop music concerts and klapa (traditional acapello singing groups) evenings, theatre shows, fashion shows, exhibitions, art colonies and workshops, traditional celebrations, fisherman’s evenings, food festivals, museum collections, cultural historical heritage, with little effort you can fill each day from morning to night. If by chance you can’t find anything interesting happening on Brač, Split is only 50 minutes away by ferry which departs every two hours, with the last departure from Split at 24.00 hr. You can obtain information from the tourist office about ways to spend your free time.
